On March 8, 2015 R.J. was called to be the 19th settled pastor since Heidelberg’s founding in 1894. Pastor Hronek is a “second career” minister having spent 20 years in the corporate world primarily with the Dow Chemical Company. He graduated from Wake Forest University Divinity School in 2006 and then became a chaplain resident for two years at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. During his time as a chaplain resident, R.J. was awarded the Richard K. Young Award for Outstanding Ministerial Development. R.J. accepted his first call to parish ministry during 2008 in Michigan. In Michigan, R.J. was the Facilitator for the Social Justice Committee of the Michigan Conference of the UCC. He also served on the Executive Board for Michigan Prophetic Voices and was on the Church & Ministry Committee of the Grand West Association of the UCC. Pastor Hronek earned his Doctor of Ministry degree in 2014 from Chicago Theological Seminary.
